Wellderly Awareness Week

Celebrating your life and accomplishments shouldn’t take a special day or week, but this week is extra special as we honor Wellderly Awareness Week. Keeping in mind the four techniques: financial, mental, physical and emotional wellness will help make your life happy and healthy.

When looking at health, both mental and physical wellness it is necessary to stay active. Enjoy a nice evening stroll with a friend to chat about current events, television shows, movies, etc. Not only will you be putting in some steps, but it will help keep your mind sharp. Organize a tournament of your favorite game, whether that be shuffleboard, dominos or even cornhole. Strategy games like the card game bridge are known to help the brain exercise.

To exercise valuable financial wellness, it is important to keep up to date on potential scams that could be directed at you. The “Grandparent Scam” was making news earlier this year as scammers posed as grandchildren in trouble to convince susceptible elderly victims to wire them money. Learn more about this scam here

Take the opportunity to do something exciting and different to exercise emotional wellness. We have a whole list of ideas to get you going.

  • Travel: You don’t have to take a Mediterranean cruise, going to a local spot you’ve never visited before can be just as adventurous.
  • Pamper yourself: Whether it’s a spa day or getting those shoes you’ve been eyeing at the store, make yourself feel important.
  • Volunteer: Lend a helping hand to your local community by volunteering at a shelter and make a difference in someone’s life.
  • Take a chance: Ever wanted to write a book? Start writing. Want to ask the cute girl from your jazzercise class on a date? Do it! Feel empowered by your choices.
  • Have a Party: Get your friends and family together for a big celebration. Dance the night away and laugh with your loved ones.
  • Do something you’ve never done: Pierce your ears? Skydiving? (They have a much easier indoor option as well!) The sky is your limit.

Although we don’t like to put restrictions on fun, make sure you speak to your doctor about any activities that could possibly be harmful to your health.
