Celebrating Halloween in Bradenton and Sarasota

Boo!

Don’t let Halloween creep up on you without plans to celebrate the bewitching day. Here are a few ways you can live it up for Halloween in the Bradenton and Sarasota area.

Halloween Happenings: Historic Spanish Point. With 5,000 years of people living at Historic Spanish Point, there’s sure to be some real-life ghoulish tales of hauntings there. Find out its haunted history on Oct. 12 or 26 (7 pm, 8 pm, or 9 pm), or take the Full Moon Ghost Tour on Oct. 24.

Downtown Bradenton Ghost Tour. What—or who—haunts Bradenton? Find out during the Downtown Bradenton Ghost Tour. During the 90-minute walking tour, guides share documented and personal experiences of hauntings around the downtown area. Stops include the Hampton Inn and Manatee Players Theatre. Here’s some good news—the tour takes place year-round so Halloween isn’t your only time to get spooked. Find more specific dates and times at the link.

Fright Night on St. Armands. Come celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fright Night on St. Armands Circle in Sarasota, held on Halloween from 6 to 8:30 pm. Find frightening characters, storefront decorations, and of course, trick or treating. At 8 pm, the Sarasota High School Drama Department will perform “Thriller”. Spooky!

Boofest, Lakewood Ranch. If you want to keep Halloween not-so-scary, come on out to Lakewood Ranch’s annual Boofest on Oct. 26 from 6 to 9 pm, where you’ll find a “Spooktacular Maze,” local dancers, and a spooky balloon artist. There’ll be plenty of trick or treating for kiddos (and kids at heart) as well as music. There’s also a costume contest.

Pumpkin Festival, Hunsader Farms. Celebrate the fall and Halloween in a big way out at Hunsader Farms in Bradenton. This weekend event (held over several Saturdays and Sundays in October) attracts  large crowds but offers up plenty of fun, including a farm market, a corn maze, playground, music, arts and crafts, hayrides, a petting zoo, and a Frog Jumping Championship (a frog jumping contest always makes you think of Halloween, right?!). There’s lots going on the festival, so arrive early to keep your kids fresh and energetic.
