If you’re looking to get a COVID-19 vaccine, you may sometimes feel like you’re in a maze that never ends. Although some older adults have received the vaccine with little effort, others have fallen down a spiral to track it down. Here’s more information on how and where to get a COVID-19 vaccine if you live in Manatee or Sarasota counties.

Manatee County and the COVID-19 Vaccine

You can sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine in Manatee County here. You will become part of the county’s COVID-19 Vaccination Standby Pool for the first vaccine dose. The county will contact you as vaccinations become available. Respond as quickly as possible—they will hold your spot for up to two hours. Manatee County is randomly selecting registered participants for vaccination. You can register up to two people at once. Vaccinations are taking place at the county’s Public Safety Center and Bennett Park.

Be prepared to show a valid ID and proof of Florida residency.

Here is more information on what to bring to a vaccination appointment (including a link to the consent form) and where to go.

Sarasota County

In Sarasota County, COVID-19 vaccines are available by appointment. Call 941-861-8297 to set an appointment or register here. You may have to wait on the phone for a while before your call is picked up.

First-dose appointments are scheduled at the Sarasota Square Mall. You’ll need to fill out a vaccine screening and consent form in advance and bring it with you, along with an ID. Sarasota County also has a 1 ½ minute video to help show you what to expect when you show up to receive your first dose of the vaccine.

Once you get your first dose, Sarasota County will follow up with you on how and where you’ll get your second dose.

Additional Vaccine Options in Manatee and Sarasota Counties

In addition to the county vaccine options, several retail locations are offering COVID-19 vaccines, including:

The websites for these retail locations indicate that they are busy and often fully booked. So, you may have to wait before you can schedule a vaccine appointment.
